Pressrelease
Premio Maccagno (Maccagno Award) has now reached its third edition and confirmed
its choice to remove barriers between artists of different ages, origins, and
styles.
In fact, with each edition the award’s scope encompasses more and more diverse
artists, even including some talented ones who usually have little chance to
have their work displayed by an official institution.
In order to maintain full transparency in organizing the award, the museum asked
eight prestigious and experienced masters (Gianni Brusamolino, Giancarlo
Cazzaniga, Trento Longaretti, Carlo Nangeroni, Giancarlo Ossola, Paolo
Schiavocampo, Luigi Stradella, Luiso Sturla) to select three artists apiece for
the exhibit for a total of twenty-four, who were then invited to participate.
The event, which is both exhibition and award, sees this year the participation
of painters and sculptors coming mostly for Lombardy: Maurizio Aprea, Giuseppe
Ayna, Marco Baj, Giuliano Barbanti, Massimo Bollani, Emiliano Bonfanti, Giacinto
Bosco, Ludovico Calchi Novati, Elisabetta Casella, Paolo Chiodoni, Zaccaria
Cremaschi, Paolo De Stefani, Piermario Dorigatti, Italo Ghilardi, Giuliana
Lucchini, Federico Palerma, Jonas Pitscheider, Nada Pivetta, Romano Rizzato,
Mario Salina, Alessandro Spadari, Jelica Tipić, Armando Tomasi, Simona Weller.
The winner will be awarded a personal exhibit in an area of the museum in 2012,
on the fourth edition of the Maccagno award.
The event has been conceived by Claudio Rizzi, coordinated by Ad Acta and
sponsored by Regione Lombardia, Provincia di varese and Comune di Maccagno. The
catalog is published by Publi Paolini.
Forty-eight works will be displayed and be an occasion for comparison and dialog
among many diverse themes and tecniques.
