Press release

“Metaphors in figurative art” is the third chapter of a project that spans over several years and that started with “Metaphors of memory”. The project’s goal is to underline and display the changes and the evolution of modern art.
This exhibit wants to show the difference between the traditional expressive choices and the evocative, suggestive and lyrical vision that has evolved in the modern era.

The words “figurative art” used to mean a realistic  - or close enough to reality – representation of an object or a person. The modern concept, instead, stems from the inner world, grows in poetic linguistic autonomy, invites to personal interpretation, moves from real to dream, makes memories come to the surface, makes you even perceive a presence thru its absence.
Fifteen artists bring the discussion to life by confrontation and contrast, outlining different worlds and situations thanks to their personal and artistic characters.  Figures are transformed into impending evanescence where history sediments and images become abstract, while emotions persist.
