Press release
The second biennial exhibit Postumia Giovani 2000 will open on Saturday, September 16, 2000; the exhibition – which will be hosted by Civico Museo Parisi-Valle of Maccagno – has been organized by Modern Art Museum of comune di Gazoldo degli Ippoliti and features the works of 34 young artists.
The artists have been selected by Renzo Margonari and by some critics (Flavio Arensi, Debora Ferrari, Fausto Lorenzi, Luigi Meneghelli, Nicola Micieli, Paola Pizzamano, Nadia Raimondi, Claudio Rizzi) who have used their knowledge of Northern-Italy artists to piece together a sort of jigsaw puzzle of the most interesting works from a wide area encompassing territories from Trentino to Toscana, from Emilia Romagna to Piemonte. The resulting picture is a very stimulating one. Liveliness and diversity, in terms of forms of expression, are the main features of this exhibit, which is also the first chance for young artists to have their works displayed in the Civico Museo Parisi-Valle. These are some of the artists that will be present: Walter Cappelli (1965), Chiara Ricardi (1970), Sara Tardonato (1967), Simona Zonca (1970) from Varese; Enrico Cazzaniga (1966), Marco Perroni (1970) from Como; and, from various places, Maria Carolina Aletti, Mirko Baricchi, Sandro Bracchitta, Laura Branca, Andrea Capucci, Raffaele Darra, Armando Fettolini, Armida Gandini, Raffaella Garosi, Graziano Giusti, Marcello Grassi, Anna Ka, Lome, Gianna Paola Macchiavelli, Claudia Manenti, Paola Marchesi Magada, Cristina Monzillo, Diego Morandini, Giuliano Orsingher, Riccardo Paracchini, Camilla Rossi, Remo Santini, Livio Scarpella, Valdi Spagnulo, Vera Tait, Annamaria Targher and Massimo Zarantonello.
The
exhibit will be open every day – except on Mondays – from 10.00 to 12.00 in
the morning and from 02.00 to 06.00 in the afternoon though October 29.
The two museums have also published a catalog of the exhibition written
by the organizer – Renzi Margonari – and the critics who have given their
contribution to this cultural initiative.
Introduction
Postumia
is the name of the ancient Roman road that connects the Italian Eastern and
Western coasts and is part of the ways that used to connect Rome to the rest of
Europe. The commune of Gazoldo degli Ippoliti is situated along the Postumia, in
the province of Mantova, and is culturally very active thanks to its Modern Art
Museum. The biennial exhibit “Postumia Giovani” was conceived here in 1998.
In order to give the exhibition even wider scope and visibility, another very
active museum – the modern art museum “Civico Museo Parisi Valle” of
Maccagno – decided to create this sort of cultural twinning with Gazoldo degli
Ippoliti.
Young artists have
finally the chance to have their works seen and appreciated by a wide audience,
while the public can enjoy the discovery of new talents.
