The 70’s were years of intense transitional turmoil. They represented the end of the twentieth century’s changes, but were also permeated by a strong drive to follow new paths.
Going over that era means to find the link between history and voices of today, tracking down evolutionary steps one by one.
High-profile personalities and old masters – custodians of artistic tradition and innovators at the same time  - help us understand the development and the intertwining of artistic forms of expression in Lombardy.

This exhibit is an occasion to reflect on art from our territory after thirty years, seeing with new eyes continuity, contents and artists now almost eclipsed by new market trends and fashion.
These works are answers to the cultural question asked during their century; similarities and differencies surface, along with personalities and trends;  need for fresh ideas and want for preservation of traditions clash and compare.
Memory and critics face the past to draw it closer to the present and to interpret its evolution.

Realized by Ad Acta for Comune di Maccagno, sponsored by Regione Lombardia in cooperation with Comune di Lecco and Città di Gazoldo degli Ippoliti. Co-sponsored by Provincia di Varese and Provincia di Mantova, the exhibit will later be moved to Torre Viscontea in Lecco, in cooperation with Musei Civici of Lecco, and finally in Museo d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea in Gazoldo degli Ippoliti
