Press release

The exhibit “Contemporary art in Lombardia – Generation 60’s” is part of an ongoing project that started several years ago, which focuses on contemporary artists in Lombardia (Region in northern Italy where our museum is located).
While most exhibits and public collections concentrate on art created in the (usually not very recent) past, this project is oriented towards the young, present generations in order to carry their works into the future.
The first chapter in this series of exhibitions was “Generation 50’s,” an exhibit that focused on artists with strong personalities and with precise roles in contemporary art.
“Generation 60’s” is the logical next step; here the works of around 40 artists will be displayed. These artists are active elements of contemporary art in Lombardia thanks to their personalities, skills, and the concepts underlying their works.
Painters and sculptors – some of them pretty extrovert, others more reserved. Valdi
, Velasco, Luca Pignatelli, Marco Petrus, Alex Corno, Alessandro Spadari, Dany Vescovi, Giovanni Bruno, Mariacristina Galli, Grazia Gabbini, and many more will represent contemporary art from this region.

The exhibit has been designed by Claudio Rizzi, who selected a number of artists that encompass a multiplicity of expressive languages, thus avoiding any preference that might have been given to any particular current and respecting the many-faceted aspects of today’s art.
These artists do have a common trait, though: their professionalism. Here you will be able to enjoy their inner worlds and their individual expressive skills. Each one of them is unique, those who use well known techniques as well as those who are more innovative in terms of subjects, metaphors and materials.

This exhibition has been organized by Ad Acta Cultural Association with the cooperation and contribution of Regione Lombardia, Direzione Generale Culture, Identità e Autonomie della Lombardia, as part of the 2005 season of exhibits.
The exhibit will be inaugurated at the museum in Maccagno on December 17, 2005 and will be closed on March 5, 2006. It will then be moved to the Museum of Contemporary Art in Gazoldo degli Ipppoliti next spring, and then to Spazio Guicciardini in Milan, an exhibit area owned by Provincia di Milano, which takes part in this initiative through its sponsorship, collaboration, and hospitality.
The catalog is published by Nicolini Editore and features works by the artists that are part of the exhibit, as well as reviews and biographies.
This project that intends to monitor and document contemporary art in Lombardia will conclude its journey within the next two years with the exhibition “Generation 70’s” and a look at Generation 40’s.
