Press release

“Contemporary Art in Lombardy. Generation 70’s” is the final chapter in the series that has spanned over several years and has covered the work of post-war artists, focusing on contemporary art in this region.

Following the exhibitions on the 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s generations, this new exhibit introduces to the public a careful selection of works by twenty-four young artists from Lombardy chosen for their professionalism, artistic personality, and skill, as opposed to marketing reasons or personal conections.

The artists whose works will be displayed are the following:

Valerio Anceschi, Giuseppe Bombaci, Claudia Canavesi, Giuliano  Cardella, Andrea Carini, Valentina Carnieli, Lorenzo Andrea Cazzaniga, Raffaele Cioffi, Barbara De Ponti, Silvia Del Grosso, Anna Gabbiani, Nadia Galbiati, Marianna Gasperini, Sara Giannatempo, Linda Grittini, Sergio Lovati, Barbara Mezzaro, Marica Moro, Gilda Pezone, Nada Pivetta, Fabrizio Pozzoli, Camilla Sala, Rita Siragusa, Nicola Villa.

This exhibit is an attempt at offering a view on modern art’s current paths by including a variety of techniques, themes, artistic languages, and materials, without submitting to current trends and fads, and without being trapped in just one predetermined theme.

Painting, photography, sculpture, and other new languages interact in lively confrontation and comparison, stimulating thought and discussion.

The exhibit has been designed by Claudio Rizzi and organized by Ad Acta Associazione Culturale and Comune di Maccagno, with the contribution of Regione Lombardia, Assessorato Culture, Identità e Autonomie della Lombardia; it is sponsored by Provincia di Varese, with the cooperation of Provincia di Milano.

This exhibit will later be moved to Spazio Guicciardini in Milan (spring 2008).

The catalog – published by Silva Editrice – includes pictures of all the works displayed in the exhibition as well as exhaustive information about the artists.
