Press release

Stradella's strong and poetic personality permeates this exhibition that goes over his artistic path and celebrates the 50th anniversary of his first exhibit. In fact, it was 1956 when Galleria Schettini in Milan had Aligi Sassu introduce this artist to art lovers.

Stradella was born in 1929 in Monza (near Milan). He got his art degree from the Brera Art Academy in 1952. He was one of Aldo Carpi's pupils and shared the atmospheres and experiences of that period with Guerreschi, Vaglieri, Banchieri, and Romagnoni, friends and classmates at the academy in those years.Realism seen from a social point of view characterizes his first works, due to his interest for human beings and their lives. A new direction stems from this first introspective period, a direction that would lead him to explore the innermost corners of the soul.

Even if he abandoned figurative art and a realistic representation of reality, his art can't be simply catalogued as purely informal, as it is a very suggestive expression of evocation, memories and feelings.

His personal interpretation of life draws the critics' attention, who dedicate to his works many writings. Marziano Bernardi, Carlo Munari, Raffaele De Grada, Leonardo Borgese, Luigi Carluccio, Roberto Sanesi, Marcello Venturoli, Fortunato Bellonzi, Mario De Micheli, Mario Luzi, Enrico Crispolti, Carlo Bo, Paolo Volponi, Alberico Sala, Rossana Bossaglia and many more have written about his art.
Civici Musei (Comune di Monza); Palazzo Ducale (Cittą di Urbino);Castello Visconteo (Comune di Trezzo d'Adda); Museo D'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea (Comune di Gazoldo degli Ippoliti); Spazio Guicciardini (Provincia di Milano) have recently displayed his works.

The exhibit here in Museo Parisi Valle (designed by Claudio Rizzi and with an introduction by Stefano Crespi in the catalog) will display around forty works spanning from his early period to the most recent paintings.
A comprehensive catalog will be available that will include all the works on display and biographical/anthological notes.
This exhibition is part of the museum's program that will document the work of contemporary artists of this area, their techniques, and the evolution of art. Regione Lombardia, Provincia di Milano and Provincia di Varese will sponsor this exhibit.
