Press release
“Art in
Varese today “ is an overview of works currently made by artists in this
province as well as surroundings areas.
This exhibit’s concept is based on both the technical and poetic characteristics
that can be found in the works, which belong to diverse currents, thus offering
an intense experience to the observer.
From the old masters to the modern protagonists, the artists in this province have always been searching new ways to express themselves, an exciting quest whose results this exhibition captures in all its shades.
This area is rich in artists, associations, and dynamic artistic activities; we have chosen the highest profile artists from this fertile ground. In the catalog you will also find a tribute to some masters who recently passed away: Enrico Baj, Floriano Bodini, Gottardo Ortelli, Franco Rognoni. Their works were pivotal in this territory’s cultural evolution.
The artists whose works will be displayed in the exhibit:
Anna Clara Beltrami; Angelo Giuseppe Bertolio; Paolo Borghi; Laura Branca; Claudia Canavesi; Walter Capelli; Nino Cassani; Francesco Cucci; Vittore Frattini; Ruggero Marrani; Franco Marrocco; Marcello Morandini; Giancarlo Ossola; Antonio Pedretti; Raffaele Penna; Antonio Pizzolante; Paola Ravasio; Chiara Ricardi; Giancarlo Sangregorio; Anna Sala; Elena Strada; Sara Tardonato; Giorgio Vicentini.
Sponsored by Comune di
Maccagno, Regione Lombardia, and by Provincia di Varese. The preface in the
catalog has been written by Assessore alle Culture, Identità e Autonomie della
Lombardia Massimo Zanello, and by the mayor of Maccagno Fabio Passera.
The
exhibit will be inaugurated on May 17 in Maccagno at the Parisi-Valle Museum and
will be open till June 29, 2008; it was designed Claudio Rizzi and coordinated
by Ad Acta, and includes 46 paintings and sculptures.
The catalog is published by Silvia Editrice and features pictures of the works
as well as exhaustive biographical notes.
