TUTTOTONDO - FREE ARTISTS ASSOCIATION OF THE PROVINCE OF VARESE

“Tuttotondo”: a welcome comeback for Liberi Artisti a Maccagno
A great collective exhibition at “Parisi Valle” civic museum

"Tuttotondo" is the new collective exhibition of Associazione Liberi Artisti della provincia di Varese (Free Artists Association of the Province of Varese), which will be hosted at the civic museum “Parisi Valle” in Maccagno con Pino e Veddasca from 20 July to 8 September 2019 (inauguration: Saturday 20 July at 6:00 pm).
Forty selected artists will present their works (both previously displayed and completely new ones), all of which are based on the concept of spheres, rounds, sculptures and 3D design.
"This exhibition will kick off the next five years of the museum’s work, five years that will be full of events and surprises. This exhibition is yet another chance to present to the public those artists that make art in our province a vibrant form of expression. As remarked on previous occasions, we believe it is essential to give space and visibility to the arts from Varese," say Fabio Passera, mayor of Maccagno con Pino e Veddasca, and Alessandro Fazio, councilor for culture.
The exhibit alternates spheres - created by the authors in different materials and with various techniques - paintings and artist's tables, as well as a homage to the views and landscapes of Lake Maggiore and the Prealps.
“I’m following with attention and curiosity the preparation of this new collective exhibition of the Association of Free Artists hosted by the civic museum, tracking down and recognizing all the sources of inspiration and the ideal and historical path that has led this Lombard association all the way here.
From the experimental event of ArtParty, organized almost ten years ago at the castle of Masnago, many new experiments have taken place: so many new collaborations and locations, almost all of them within our province. These exhibits have included more and more artistic personalities in mostly themed collective displays. The exhibition that we are preparing to inaugurate finds in these diverse experiences and studies its own origins and reasons. Now a tribute to the surrounding area has been added, too, as round shapes inspired by the territory of Maccagno and Lake Maggiore,” writes in the catalog Clara Castaldo, journalist and art historian in charge the cultural activities of the Parisi Valle civic museum. She also adds, "An exhaustive, clear-cut exhibition, with no need for bevels, corners or crevices, able to stir the observer’s imagination through sculpted figures that are isolated in space without any background. And, above all, shapes that can be observed from various points of view. Tuttotondo is a word that originates from an ancient and renowned sculptural technique, which literally means complete, exhaustive, open, a way of looking at things from different and multiple points of view. It is a way of being, reasoning, feeling and acting that should fit a mature man or woman who are free from useless anchors, a hard – and therefore fascinating - task. What each artist and the group of Free Artists as a whole hope is to capture and develop the metaphor of the "all-round vision" as a synonym of openness and new projects, giving up comfortable crutches.
What they want is a serious and in-depth study, certified preparation, constant discipline and authentic open-mindedness, without giving in to the temptation of what is currently fashionable. ‘An unexpected event is the only hope,’ Eugenio Montale wrote”.
The catalog also features presentations by Ettore Ceriani and Nicoletta Romano, as well as photographic reproductions of the works on display.
