Press release

The evocative title for Danila Denti's personal exhibition is: "Between Earth and Sky. Xylographs, chalcographs, paintings and ceramics, 1995-2017".
Open from June 24 to August 27, 2017 (inauguration: Saturday, June 24, 06:00 pm) and curated by Clara Castaldo, this rich anthology displays to the public the creative and biographical path of this talented artist, who has been reviewed by Walter Valentini, Luca Crippa, Pierluigi Gerosa, Enzo Pellai, Armando Ginesi and Claudia Mandelli, among others.

Fabio Passera, Mayor of Maccagno con Pino e Veddasca, says: "I have always followed Danila's artistic evolution very closely, as I’ve always been fascinated by the delicacy of her style and colors. These features perfectly match the sweet and shy character of a woman who always greets you with a smile. Yet, I have always had the clear perception that the soul of a true artist was hidden behind her gentle ways and coy manners, quite the opposite of a self-promoting attitude. One day I made a decision as sudden as many of the choices I have to make on a daily basis: we would dedicate an exhibition to Danila Denti's works. It was a firm decision that stemmed from my absolute certainty regarding her artistic stature"

Clara Castaldo, curator of the exhibition and in charge of exhibitions for the Civic Museum, explains: "Danila Denti’s favorite means of expression is paper. Ink or watercolors create a window, a focal point for the eyes, the threshold to pass for those willing to enter her world. Beyond that door made of paper the artist focuses on the whole world. Her freedom becomes tangible through a sequence of small gestures and delicate voice modulations. It’s almost like a poem, a light and delicate Ode, a whispered song. But, above all, Danila Denti’s works remind the observer of Haiku poems; as light as summer rain or a cool breeze, they reveal deeper meanings. These Japanese short poems always maintain a certain level of concreteness: speculation is nourished by "things", "facts". They deal with direct, tangible results. Likewise, Danila Denti’s patient and delicate work seems to tell us that those who are fed with emotions will know the beauty around them, those who know how to listen will be amazed, and those who live in a fertile reality will be surrounded by love and relationships".

The artist says: "I depict a reality where I live emotionally and reflectively. I do not pursue mere description or representation, I don’t seek to create an accurate photograph of reality: the intimate nature of things talks to me, opens to me, connects to me. So my attention is attracted by spaces, air, the tiny stub or maybe the huge mountain. ‘Nothing that was heard can be told with the same words ...’ I don’t depict the mere image of the model. If I think of a camellia flower and all those who helped it blossom, as well as those who picked it, if I think of all its wonderful shapes, I feel overwhelmed... I’m awed by so much beauty and I barely dare paint it by touching the paper with colors or the plate with marks to let it breathe. For me, a flower or a tree have no botanical interest: they tell a story. They are the nuances and details that speak to us, fragile fragments of matter and existence, as opposed to accurate descriptions."

This personal exhibition is made even more complete by the catalog specially made by the artist herself.

The Book Fair entitled "With a Book Between Earth and Sky" - organized by Cerutti & Pozzi, a bookshop in Luino - will make summer even more interesting and will be yet another reason to visit the museum, which will host the fair. The fair will begin on Friday, July 21 and will be open till Sunday 20 August 2017.
The opening hours of the Book Fair will be the same as the Parisi Valle Civic Museum. If you’re art and /or book lovers, you just can’t miss this chance to find a wide selection of highly successful titles. There will also be a space dedicated to children’s books, foreign language books and the most sought-after and peculiar editions for you to discover and browse through.
During the book fair, the Parisi Valle Museum will be open every Saturday (22 and 29 July, 5, 12 and 19 August) from 9.00 pm to 11.00 pm.
Also hosted by the museum, Maurizio Miozzi will give two interesting talks: Saturday, August 5, BISKRA UN EMIGRANTE RACCONTA, and Saturday, August 12, LUINO DI IERI E DI OGGI, both at 9.30 pm.
